God is my conscience, Jesus lives in my heart… this blog is about what I see, what I think, what I do and how I serve God
Friday, November 13, 2015. Responding to the news of terrorist attacks from France.

As I am watching news from Paris, France my thoughts and prayers are with victims of terrorist attacks and their families. I would like to ask our church family of Kingswood United Methodist Church as well as all my Christian sisters and brothers to pray for the situation as it unravels and more information becomes available.
I am also praying for the military personnel, police corps, and medical personnel that are dealing with the aftermath of the attacks. May God protect them, give them courage and strength to do what has to be done to protect the innocent, as well as to neutralize and disable the perpetrators.
In times of uncertainty, confusion and grief I find the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi (1181-1226) to be comforting and empowering:
Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
