Zis-N-Zat From Pastor Asher

God is my conscience, Jesus lives in my heart… this blog is about what I see, what I think, what I do and how I serve God

Liturgy of Blessing/Consecration of Ground for a Home

L: Our help is in the name of the Lord,

who made heaven and earth.

P: Except the Lord build the house,

they labor in vain who build it.

Opening Prayer (in Unison) –

Almighty and everlasting God,
ever exalted yet always near:

Be present with us, gathered together here
to set apart this ground upon which we stand
to the honor and glory of your great name.

We dedicate this property unto You
and ask that Your Holy Spirit would continually
flow over and perpetually bless this property.

In the name of Jesus Christ we ask that
you guard over this property and purge it of every
form of evil that tries to come onto this land.

We claim every blade of grass on this property,
every tree, every structure to stand here
for the glory of the Kingdom of God.

We ask you to bless this ground
in the name of Jesus Christ, Our Lord.

From the Hebrew Scripture Joshua 24:15

NIV2010 Joshua 24: 15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

Leader: Thus Ends the Reading

Congregation: Thanks Be to God!

Blessing of the Ground

L: In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

P: Amen!

L: We pray that a home may stand here
where all inhabitants shall continue learn
to love God and grow in grace and goodness,
and in favor with God and all people,

P: we pray over this ground today.

L: That a home may stand here where the weary and
heavy laden shall find inner peace that the world can
neither give nor take away,

P: we pray over this ground today.

L: That a home may stand here
where God is worshiped in prayer and in action,

P: we pray over this ground today.

L: That a home may stand here where the grace of God
may make our human lives into a Christlike love and
our homes places of living witness for that realm
where Christ is Lord,

P: we pray over this ground today.

Closing Prayer (in Unison)

Loving and Gracious God!

Bless those who will live here with
the gift of your love;
and grant that they may manifest your love
to each other and
to all whose lives they touch.

May they grow in grace and
in the knowledge and love of you;
guide, comfort, strengthen them;
and preserve them in peace.

May this blessing always remain on this ground
and on those who live here,
now and for ever and ever.

{The Lord’s Prayer}
