Zis-N-Zat From Pastor Asher

God is my conscience, Jesus lives in my heart… this blog is about what I see, what I think, what I do and how I serve God

In Memoriam: Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela

Christians around the world join the people of South Africa who are mourning the death of their former leader Nelson Mandela at the age of 95.

The worship team at the General Board of Discipleship has prepared an extensive collection of resources about Mandela and his life which are available online at http://bit.ly/1blj1mO.

Mandela, who was baptized in the Methodist Church as a youth, became actively involved in the anti-apartheid movement in his 20s. He led a campaign of peaceful, nonviolent defiance against the racist policies of the South African government for 20 years. A year after he was jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize with South African President F.W. de Klerk, Mandela was inaugurated as the nation’s first black president in 1994.
