Zis-N-Zat From Pastor Asher

God is my conscience, Jesus lives in my heart… this blog is about what I see, what I think, what I do and how I serve God

Saturday of the Second Week of Advent

Psalm 80:2-3, 15-19  NIV2010

2 before Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh.
Awaken your might;
come and save us.
3 Restore us, O God;
make your face shine on us,
that we may be saved.

15 the root your right hand has planted,
the sonyou have raised up for yourself.
16 Your vine is cut down, it is burned with fire;
at your rebuke your people perish.
17 Let your hand rest on the man at your right hand,
the son of man you have raised up for yourself.
18 Then we will not turn away from you;
revive us, and we will call on your name.
19 Restore us, Lord God Almighty;
make your face shine on us,
that we may be saved.

All of us need “restoration” and encouragement from time to time. As our nation tries to come to terms with the senseless events in Newtown, CT where 20 innocent children and 6 adults lost their lives at the hands of a gunman who then took his own life, let us pray for those families who lost their children and loved ones. Let us pray for our nation and ask ourselves what we can do so that something similar does not happen again? How can we be a catalyst of positive change and influence in a world that gone terribly wrong? What does it mean to us that God chose to become one of us.

“Restore us, Lord God Almighty; make your face shine on us that we may be saved [redeemed]” Psalm 80:19
