Belief in the Divine is part of our “DNA”…

There is a news article on Yahoo. com titled: “Oxford to study faith in God.” Here is the link to the story.
Like DAAAAAA-H!
For most of the history of the humankind, that idea reigned supreme across Abrahamic faiths (all flavors of Christianity, Judaism and Islam) as well as plethora of Eastern religions/philosophies and tribal belief systems all around the globe.
When the Enlightenment and Industrial Revolution challenged that belief that all of us share a basic divine part in our makeup, that is when things went really-really bad: two World Wars, Holocaust, genocide all over the globe, pollution reached catastrophic proportions to the point that it threatens the survival of ALL humanity.
Best example of things going wrong because we do not consider God to be part of the equation is Western World’s approach to the conflict in the Middle East. Westerners try to resolve the conflict without considering religious instincts and backgrounds of the people involved and when their “brilliant” solutions backfire everybody gets angry and upset and things go from bad to worse.
The author of the article further writes: “One implication that comes from this is that religion is the default position, and atheism is perhaps more in need of explanation.”
I can almost feel Voltaire getting really upset…
